| Ngaanyatjarra Council Native Title Representative Body Ngaanyatjarra Council is the Representative Body for the Central Desert Region for the purposes of Native Title. While Ngaanyatjarra Council first received recognition as a representative body in 1994, its area of responsibilty was increased threefold at the beginning of 2000, and now represents a third of Western Australia. In its role as a representative body, the Ngaanyatjarra Council Native Title Unit provides services to cover all of the activities listed in the purpose and scope of the ATSIC native title program, including: research and mediation; dispute resolution; mining negotiations; education; cultural and heritage protection; the resolution of native title claims; and the development of relevant policy.
